Darla's f***in' hot! |
] |
I couldn't get past the sound of Cherry Poppin' Daddies since our fatal dance so I decided to let my own CD ring throughout the experienced sound system installed in the car I'd stolen that'd been parked outside the club. Hell the owner was probably dead anyway, and who doesn't carry their favorite CDs on them at all times ... "just in case"?
My blood was pumping not from the slaughter that Darla and I'd just committed but from the fact that I'd just had one of the best.. fun nights in I don't know how many years. To celebrate this, the song Doctor Bones was the fuel fed to keep this feeling going.
"I appreciate the evening you've given me. You reminded me on why it's so satisfying to be.. us."
You're damn right I did, 'cause I'm Kyle! How many times was I told by woman after woman that I was unlike any they'd ever met? It was a reputation to be upheld and the best part? I didn't have to try hard to uphold it. But I'd managed to impress Darla. Now what kind of magic doth I wield to manage that feat so easily?
Guess I'm just that cool.
"Why don't you go back for now? Check on the family. I've got.. one more thing to tend to."
I wanted to lay one on her. Give those ruby, life-revived lips of hers a kiss that would light any campfire, but as cocky as I can be sometimes even I know my place. I was raised a gentleman and I'll die a gentleman, god dammit. I could still feel her touch against my lips, though. So warm and antagonizing it was. It's not easy to refrain from replying to such an invitation, really. Instead, though, I simply took her hand in mine, took a little bow, and kissed her knuckles with polite respect behind which lain uspoken words that only a woman could read told only by the predatory eyes that rest upon those looking into them.
The tires of the new corvette that I was to present to Angelus screeched to a halt and almost simultaniously was the key flipped and my boots on the concrete outside Wolfram & Hart. I spun myself in a twirl upon exiting the vehicle and there was a skip in my step that matched the hummed tune that protruded above my smiling lips, spinning the key ring around my index finger.
I wanted to brag! I'd just had the best night with the best vampire to wreak havoc upon the borders west of the Atlantic and I wanted to be a showoff. But where could I find someone? Like Spike would want to hear my tale? He'd probably just scoff at me and find some latrine to whack it off in later. What about the Doll? She and I had a decent reporte. Sorta building brother-sister thing. Chances are she might be able to give me a bit deeper scoop than the mysterious echoes I'd obtained from Darla. I mean.. all these guys knew each other. I was the alien.
So it was to Dru's room I wandered, figuring Leile was most likely asleep at this hour to bother. She got nippy when I woke her up. I mean literally, dude. She'd nip at your ankles, arms, whatever she could manage to get her fangs close to. Bitchy to every end of the spectrum.
I opened the door to Dru's room and swirled inside, finishing my arrival with arms outstretched. "OOOOoooohhh man, Doll," I sang dramatically. "You got no idea what kinda night I've had!"

My palm slapped against the steering wheel of the silver Protege as I drove back toward Wolfram & Hart after my successful hit, pounding out the beat to Guns n' Roses' Locomotive that was blaring on my CD player, bobbing my head in unison. I looked down at the spedometer for a brief moment. 80mph. Pff. Let a cop pull me over.
My other hand gripped the wheel and I reached over to ruffle against Leile's fur. "Tired?" I asked her before taking a drag off my cigarette. "You gettin' old? Lookit you. We used to go for nights without a blink and there y'are dozing off." She didn't so much as flick an ear toward me though the flinch of her tail was enough to tell me that she was still alive if nothing else. "... party pooper."
The volume on the stereo was turned down and I reached into the inside pocket of my coat to present a cell phone. My thumb flipped it open and I pulled out the antenna with my teeth, then punched in a few numbers and held it up to my ear. My lips synched with Axl Rose while I listened to the ringing..
(( open to Angel via phone if he can figure out how to use it and later, SHANG-DA SMACKDOWN ))

"Welcome to the family, Kyle."
Well. That little phrase didn't leave me with too many great expectations of what I was about to get into considering they were the same words spoken to me the moment I decided to be employed by one of the most vicious crime families in Los Angeles. Comparitively.
I watched the man vanish into thin air and just stood there for a moment, peering down the alley. The sound of Leile's whine broke me from my seeming trance. I turned my gaze down upon her. "Well ain't this just a fuckin' slice of cheesecake?" I asked rhetorically before turning around to depart the alley. "Out of the fryin' pan and into the fire, Kyle ol' boy. Why'd you let me do that, huh?" I asked to the wolf next to me. "How you gonna go and leave me hangin' like that? No matter. If we're gonna nail Lizzie we might as well get paid. Wolfram & Hart, huh? ... TAXI!" I hailed a cab that was driving down the street, waving him over with my hand.
"Whaddya gonna bring the dog in my car?" He asked me, looking at Leile. "Yep," I said, then leaned down to the driver's window with big, bright eyes and a happy little smile, my face having undergone the change that tells the tale of my immortaility, "but you're not invited!" I reached both arms into the car and grappled the driver's head, twisting his neck so that I could sink my fangs into the vein that supplied him precious life, drinking deeply. Once he was empty I pulled him out of the car and left his body on the sidewalk, then opened the back door with a bow as though presenting a chariot to her ladyship. Leile hopped in and in moments we were on the road.
-------------------
"Boy he wasn't jokin'," I said to myself as I viewed the building which contained the essence of Wolfram & Hart, my brows raised. "Gaudy don' even begin to describe this place." I got out of the cab and picked a medium sized rock off the ground, then set it on the gas pedal. After which I threw the car into drive and watched it speed off, waving bye-bye at it, not caring where it went or who it killed. The doors leading into the lobby were turned to, leaving the bottom of my trench coat flagging in the cool breeze.
The electric doors opened for me when I neared. I always loved those. Made a man feel kinda haughty. When the final entry doors opened and lead me into the lobby, lo and behold, I stopped dead in my tracks. There was the woman I'd encountered earlier! The one I gave the girl to and LOOK! There's the girl! But hello, who's this blonde haired firecracker lookin' fella? He knew how to dress good, I gave him that much.
Leile stepped up to my side and studied the others untrustingly.
"Well hooo-ly shit," I toned pointedly.
(( open to Spike and Dru ))
